Grounded in Practice, Guided by Research —

A Community for Co‑Teaching Excellence

Aims & Scope

The Journal for Co-Teaching Excellence (JCTE), a publication of the National Association for Co-Teaching (NACT), is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated exclusively to advancing the knowledge, practice, and impact of co-teaching across educational settings.

The journal amplifies the shared expertise of educators by publishing practitioner insights and research‑based scholarship that advance co-teaching. We provide an accessible digital space where teachers and scholars learn from one another, reflect on their practice, and contribute to a growing body of knowledge that strengthens co‑teaching for all learners.

JCTE welcomes submissions from researchers, PK–12 educators, teacher educators, instructional coaches, administrators, teacher candidates, and others engaged in meaningful co-teaching work. We recognize that valuable contributions to the field come in many forms, from rigorous research and scholarly analysis to practical classroom innovations.

Our journal offers a variety of submission categories to encourage diverse perspectives and connect research, preparation, policy, leadership, and practice. Not every category will appear in every issue. Manuscripts are selected based on quality, relevance, originality, and the needs of each issue.

Submission Information

Relevance and Focus

All submissions must have a clear and meaningful connection to co-teaching. Articles focused primarily on inclusion, collaboration, differentiation, or other related practices should explicitly explain their relevance to co-teaching.

Quality and Practical Value

We encourage submissions that are accurate, well-organized, engaging, and useful to their intended audiences. Research-based claims should be appropriately supported. Practitioner articles should offer specific examples, actionable ideas, or meaningful insights rather than general recommendations alone.

Manuscript Preparation

  • Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word format.

  • Use 12-point Times New Roman, double spacing, and 1-inch margins.

  • Follow APA 7th edition guidelines for citations and references.

  • Include a descriptive title and a brief abstract or summary for longer submissions, when appropriate.

  • Include tables, figures, tools, or examples when they meaningfully strengthen the submission. Include alt text for images and tables.

  • Obtain necessary permissions for copyrighted materials and protect the confidentiality of students, educators, and schools. All images, artifacts, or student work must include permissions or be anonymized. Permission and Release Forms are linked in the Author Permission and Release of Material Form.
